Evening Prayer January 30, 2025

Father in Heaven,
 
Blessed are you Lord, for you are our Judge, and you alone are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.
 
When You spoke to the disciples about being fishers of men, they probably understood better than we do what that meant. Jesus is saying nothing about standing by a lazy river as we reel in the catch without any effort. Help us to understand that fishing is more often grueling, back breaking, and dangerous work that often yielded little for nothing for the effort. Help us, Lord, to step out of our fantasy world and into Your reality of sometimes hard truth.
 
Hear our prayers, Lord, in the precious name of your Son, our Lord and Savior,
 
Amen
