For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after
wisdom.
1 Corinthians 1:22, Modern English Version (MEV)
An interesting observation going on in this verse. Remember that the Jews are God's chosen people, yet these few words cut to the heart of the matter for them. Their belief was reduced to the need for God to provide tangible evidence in order for them to believe. It wasn't about faith, it was about getting a sign from God. I've witnessed this same thing among far too many Christians as well, "Lord, if You'd only do this or that," or, "Lord, just let me see one small miracle." The idea being that if the Lord gave them what they asked for, then their "faith" would be established. Really? As for the Greeks seeking wisdom, we've already covered that the past couple of days.
