So are the ways of everyone who is greedy of
gain, which takes away the life of its owners.
Proverbs 1:19, Modern English Version (MEV)
You reap what you sow. Something that many tend to forget. Another biblically based adage is that those who live by the sword will die by the sword. Things may look glamorous at first, but they don't remain that way. One only needs to open their eyes and pay attention to what's going on around them to understand this is true. Unfortunately, most of us seem to have bought into the idea that, “if only we had just a little bit more, things would be better.” We have fooled ourselves into believing that if we only had that “little bit more,” our lives would be where we want them to be and we would be satisfied. That is, of course, a lie. That little bit more becomes just a lit bit more, as the cycle of greed continues to feed upon itself. A good part of the time we aren’t even aware it’s happening, which makes the whole process even more insidious. And, unfortunately, many of us never discover the lie that we’ve been living.
